Greg the Frog: Burning Escape
A fast and momentum-driven platformer where split-second choices matter just as much as quick reflexes.
Duration: 3 weeks
1st Place - Futuregames Warsaw Jury Day
A peaceful rainforest becomes a blazing nightmare in an instant. Smoke fills the air, branches crash to the ground, and fire races across the forest and Greg the Frog must leap, swing, and slide through the burning wilderness before it is too late.
Scattered throughout the forest are baby frogs clinging to leaves or frozen in fear. Saving them slows Greg down, but leaving them behind comes at its own cost. Will you run fast to survive, or risk everything to save the others?
Features:
- Grapple and swing with your tongue to fly across gaps and build smooth momentum
- Rescue tiny frogs, discover rare species along the way, and complete your Rescue Book
- Explore the forest freely by choosing safe paths or risky shortcuts
- Grow your skills as you master tricks, chase faster times, and uncover hidden froggies
My Role & Contributions
I worked as a Gameplay Programmer on Greg the Frog: Burning Escape, built in Unity with C#. I was mainly responsible of the core movement systems, including the tongue-based grapple and swing mechanic, sliding, and surface sticking, along with a speed-based dynamic camera zoom.
On top of that I helped built the frog rescue system (tracking, collecting, and cataloguing frog types), a checkpoint and respawn system, a player health/damage system, and HUD elements like the timer, speed effects, and score UI.
In the meanwhile, I collaborated with the team using Git/GitHub for version control and Jira for task tracking.
This project was the first Game Project of my Game Programming course at Futuregames Warsaw. It was structured like a game jam, and out of 8 groups of 15-16 people each, Greg The Frog was selected as 1st place on Futuregames Warsaw's Jury Day.
